HELP US TO MAKE THE BEST POSSIBLE DECISIONS WE CAN FOR THE CITY OF ANNA AND FOR OUR FUTURE.
EACH PERSON WILL BE ALLOWED UP TO THREE MINUTES TO SPEAK.

NUMBER FOUR REPORTS.WE'RE GOING TO START WITH THE DIRECTOR'S REPORT ON CITY COUNCIL ACTIONS.
GOOD EVENING. GOOD EVENING COMMISSIONERS.
THIS IS ACTUALLY A NEW ITEM THAT'S GOING TO BE ADDED TO YOUR AGENDA MOVING FORWARD.
SO I WILL BE STAFF WILL BE REPORTING OUT TO YOU ON RELEVANT TOPICS.
FIRST AND FOREMOST, I'D LIKE TO INTRODUCE OUR NEWEST MEMBER TO THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, MR. THOMAS LONGMIRE.
COMMISSIONER LONGMIRE COMES TO YOU FROM THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT.
AND I WILL LET YOU GO AHEAD AND INTRODUCE YOURSELF.
I'M NOT SURE WHAT ELSE YOU'D LIKE ME TO ADD.
I'VE BEEN A RESIDENT FOR ANNA OF ANNA FOR ABOUT FOUR YEARS NOW.
HAD A FAILED RUN FOR CITY COUNCIL, BUT I'M HAPPY TO BE HERE TO SERVE THE CITY.
COMMISSIONER. WE'RE HAPPY TO HAVE YOU.
NOW ON TO JUST SOME CITY COUNCIL UPDATES.
SO I WILL BE PROVIDING MOVING FORWARD.
I WILL BE PROVIDING KIND OF A RECAP OF ACTIONS THAT COUNCIL TOOK IN THE PREVIOUS MONTH.
AS YOU KNOW, COUNCIL MEETS TWICE A MONTH.
SO THEY MET TWICE AND ACTUALLY THREE TIMES IN JULY.
THEY REVIEWED THE SHADOW BIN COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT.
SO THEY'RE THEY VOTED ON THE AMENDMENT TO THE PD ORDINANCE FOR THAT.
PROJECT TO ALLOW SELF EXCUSE ME TO ALLOW SELF STORAGE AND CHILDCARE, NURSERY SCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN BY RIGHT.
IN THAT PD, THE MOTION BY COUNCIL WAS TO APPROVE THAT REQUEST WITH THE STIPULATION TO EXCLUDE HOTEL AND MOTEL USES FROM THAT PD THAT WAS APPROVED 6 TO 1 WITH MILLER VOTING AGAINST THE NEXT ITEM WAS THE CONCEPT PLAN FOR THAT SAME DEVELOPMENT THAT WAS ALSO THERE WAS ALSO A MOTION TO APPROVE THAT WITH AND THEN AGAIN, WELL, I'M SORRY.
AND THEN IT WAS APPROVED 6 TO 1 WITH MILLER AGAINST AS WELL.
THE NEXT ITEM ON THAT AGENDA THAT COUNCIL APPROVED WAS THE LIBERTY HILLS DEVELOPMENT.
SO LIBERTY HILLS WAS ON THAT AGENDA FOR TWO DIFFERENT ITEMS. THE FIRST WAS THE ANNEXATION INTO THE CITY AND THAT WAS APPROVED 6 TO 1 WITH MILLER VOTING AGAINST.
THE SECOND ITEM WAS FOR THE REZONING OF THAT PROPERTY, AND COUNCIL DECIDED THERE,

WELL, THERE WAS A MOTION TO TABLE THAT ITEM TO THE AUGUST 13TH MEETING, WHICH WAS APPROVED 4 TO 3 WITH TOTEN BILLS AND CAIN VOTING AGAINST.AT ITS JULY 23RD MEETING, THE COUNCIL REVIEWED THE ANNA 23 DEVELOPMENT.
IT REVIEWED THE REZONING FOR THAT DEVELOPMENT.
AND THAT WAS APPROVED 5 TO 2 WITH CARVER AND MILLER VOTING AGAINST.
AS YOU'RE ALL AWARE, ON JULY 30TH, THE COUNCIL HELD A SPECIAL MEETING WHERE STAFF PRESENTED ON A NUMEROUS ITEMS. RELATED TO DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.
AND THAT'S WHAT CAME FROM THAT MEETING, IS THAT COUNCIL IS INTERESTED IN RE REASSESSING, REVIEWING THE FUTURE LAND USE PLAN OF THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN.
AND SO RIGHT NOW STAFF IS WORKING ON THE NEXT STEPS FOR THAT TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE SCOPE OF THAT PROJECT WOULD LOOK LIKE.
AND WHETHER WE NEED TO GO WITH A CONSULTANT.
YOU KNOW, HOW MUCH MONEY WE'RE GOING TO EXPEND ON THAT PROJECT.
AT ITS AUGUST 13TH MEETING, COUNCIL WILL BE LOOKING AT THE LIBERTY HILLS REZONING AGAIN.
THAT WAS TABLED BACK IN JULY THAT I JUST MENTIONED, AS WELL AS THE POWELL CORNERS REZONING.
SO THAT'S JUST AGAIN, LOOKING AHEAD.
WE'RE LOOKING AT JUST THINGS THAT WE CAN DO TO MAKE THE REPORTS A LITTLE BIT CLEARER FOR EVERYONE.
SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE ADDING ARE PROJECT NUMBERS FOR EACH PROJECT SO THAT YOU CAN IDENTIFY THEM MORE CLEARLY.
WE'RE ALSO LOOKING AT POSSIBLY INCLUDING A STAFF RECOMMENDATION ON APPLICATIONS AS TO WHETHER THEY WHETHER STAFF RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OR DENIAL OF THE APPLICATION, WHETHER IT'S IN WHETHER IT'S CONSISTENT WITH THE ZONING AND SUBDIVISION ORDINANCES.
SO THOSE ARE THE THINGS THAT YOU'LL BE LIKELY SEEING MOVING FORWARD.
WELL, LAUREN WAS GOING TO REPORT ON THIS, BUT THE 2024 ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIAL WORKSHOP IS COMING UP. AND I DON'T RECALL EXACTLY WHAT DATE THAT'S ON.
BUT IF I'LL HAVE LAUREN VERIFY THE DATE FOR THAT.
BUT THAT'S THE ONE WE ALREADY ATTENDED THAT NORTH RICHLAND HILLS.
YES. THE TEXAS APA CONFERENCE IS COMING UP IN OCTOBER.
WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND IF YOU CAN ATTEND TO PLEASE ATTEND.
THERE'S GOING TO BE QUITE A FEW MOBILE TOURS GOING ON OF DIFFERENT DEVELOPMENTS AND THINGS GOING ON IN THE AREA THAT YOU MAY NOT SEE, YOU KNOW, ALL THE TIME.
