SO THE ITEM BEFORE YOU IS FOR A SPECIFIC USE PERMIT FOR A KENNEL.

THEY WILL NOT HAVE ANY OUTSIDE PENS.

THE CURRENT TENANT THERE IS PAW OF THE FAMILY.

THEY ALREADY HAVE A USE THERE, BUT THEY'RE LOOKING TO EXPAND THEIR BUSINESS AND OFFER SOME OTHER SERVICES THAT DO FALL UNDER MY DEFINITION OF OUR ORDINANCE UNDER KENNEL, WHICH IS REQUIRED SPECIFIC USE PERMIT.

THE ZONING ORDINANCE DOES ALLOW FOR IT, BUT IT DOES IT IS WITH THE APPROVAL OF A SPECIFIC USE PERMIT.

A SPECIFIC USE PERMIT SHALL BE EVALUATED AS TO A PROBABLE EFFECT ON THE ADJACENT PROPERTY AND THE COMMUNITY WELFARE AND MAY BE APPROVED OR DENIED AS THE FINDINGS INDICATE APPROPRIATE WITH REGARD TO THE HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

PLANNING STAFF DOES NOT SEE ANY CONCERNS WITH THE PROPOSED USE OF A KENNEL AT THIS CURRENT PROPOSED LOCATION.

WE REALIZE THAT IN ORDER TO EXPAND BEYOND FOUR DOGS AT ANY GIVEN TIME, WE NEED THIS ABILITY BECAUSE WE WOULD LIKE TO HIRE THREE ADDITIONAL GROOMERS ON TOP OF OUR CURRENT GROOMER. WE'D ALSO LIKE TO ADD IN DAYCARE AND PET BOARDING SERVICES AT A LIMITED CAPACITY, WHICH IS, YOU KNOW, NO MORE THAN 30 DOGS AT ANY GIVEN TIME. ANY COMMISSIONERS HAVE QUESTIONS FOR THIS APPLICANT? ONE OF THEM IS A VET TECHNICIAN THAT WILL HELP WITH THE DOGS THERE ON SITE.

WE ARE GOING TO BE HIRING AN ADDITIONAL SIX EMPLOYEES TO WATCH THE DAYCARE TWO AT ANY GIVEN HOUR, AS WELL AS THREE ADDITIONAL GROOMERS.

SO THAT WOULD TAKE US UP TO 14 TO 15 EMPLOYEES.

WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING FIVE INCH DRYWALL WITH R13 INSULATION, BUT THE RUBBER FLOORING IN AND OF ITSELF IS USUALLY WHAT IS MAINLY USED TO CUT DOWN ON NOISE LIKE THIS.

SO. WHERE WILL YOU TAKE THE ANIMALS TO POTTY? IT'S COMPLETELY INDOORS, SO IT'S NOT GOING TO BE OUTSIDE WHATSOEVER.

SO WE'RE GOING TO HAVE EIGHT KENNELS THAT ARE TIME OUT KENNELS.

THE REST OF THE AREA, WHICH IS 2,370 SQUARE FEET, IS GOING TO BE USED FOR PLAY AREA UNLESS WE NEED TO SEPARATE ANY DOGS, ESPECIALLY DURING FEEDING, THINGS LIKE THAT.

BUT WE HAVE DRAINAGE THAT'S BEING CUT INTO THE CONCRETE AND THEN WE HAVE INDUSTRIAL POTTY PARKS THAT WILL BE IN THE FACILITY.

SO THERE WILL BE NO OUTSIDE.

SO HOPEFULLY THAT ANSWERS THAT QUESTION.

HOW WILL YOU CLEAN THOSE FLOORS? SO WE ALREADY HAVE A INDUSTRIAL FLOOR SCRUBBER.

IT ALSO USES KENNELSOL, WHICH KILLS ANY BACTERIA'S.

IT'S WHAT VETERINARY CLINICS USE THAT WILL BE DONE EVERY SINGLE DAY, VACUUMING, SPOT MOPPING THROUGHOUT THE DAY.

AND THE POTTY PARKS ACTUALLY HAVE SPRINKLERS ON THEM AND THINGS LIKE THAT THAT ACTUALLY PUT THAT SOLUTION OUT, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT.

KILLS THE BACTERIA AS WELL.

SOLIDS STILL HAVE TO BE PICKED UP.

I DON'T KNOW. ARE ALL YOUR GROOMERS LICENSED? IT DOESN'T REQUIRE A LICENSE TO BE A GROOMER IN ESPECIALLY IN THE STATE OF TEXAS.

BUT THEY ARE GOING TO BE EXPERIENCED.

WE'RE WORKING OUT WITH VETS JUST IN CASE ANYTHING HAPPENS.

WE HAVE WAIVERS, BUT WE MAINLY EVERY SINGLE PERSON IS CERTIFIED IN RED CROSS EMERGENCY SERVICES FOR PETS AND ANIMALS, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US. AND THEN WE HAVE EMERGENCY PROCEDURES IN PLACE IF ANYTHING DOES HAPPEN.

ON THAT NOTE, THE ONLY THING I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT WAS, HAS THE FIRE DEPARTMENT BEEN INVOLVED, DO THEY NEED TO BE INVOLVED AT ALL FOR THIS TO BEING IT'S GOING TO BE OVERNIGHT.
